To be very straight forward, no, you cannot do that, because laptop is supposed to give you HDMI out and not HDMI in, which is why you cannot make your laptop get an HDMI input.
In most of the cases people wonder why they cannot just do that; so let me guide why you cannot.
So to clarify I should tell you that what an HDMI cable is, now for example if you have a video on your laptop that is in Ultra high resolution or let us just say in good quality, and you do not just want to see that video or movie in your laptop, because you might have different plans of watching the same video or movie to the bigger LED screen you have placed on wall.
So in that case you connect your LED with laptop and that cable is called HDMI that transfers the signals from your laptop to that external display monitor.
Also you should keep in mind that the HDMI cable that is about 3 feet long are the most quality cables, they can transfer about 10 GB data per second which is amazing.
Use my laptop like a TV screen using an HDMI cable
They support 1080 pixels, and also they are quite good in terms of connection. So sadly answer to your question is no, because you cannot make your laptop HDMI to receive signal.
However you can use your HDMI for various purposes, such as connecting your laptop to external display monitor such as TV, LED. Or you can connect your laptop to decoder, by doing so you can watch your TV channels through your laptop.
You can use HDMI port to capture photos or to make videos from your camera, and that would be live, so you can directly record it. Having an HDMI port is not as good, as knowing your HDMI port.
